Aging is an inevitable aspect of humanity that we cannot stop; however, with advances in science and our understanding of neuroscience there are now many daily rituals we can do which can dramatically slow down the aging process and ensure what is called movement longevity. Join Human Movement Specialist Dr. Emily Splichal as she explores the neurology of aging and how it relates to both the central and peripheral nervous system. Learn tips and tricks that can be used to optimize movement quality and coordination despite the aging process.

1:45 pm EST

Presented by Mike Deibler

Walking is the key to longevity! Let Mike Deibler show you over a dozen ways to challenge and motivate your older clients to walk — and walk fast! — on a daily basis. These innovative drills can be done anywhere, inside or outside, with large groups, small groups or individuals and with an absolute minimum of equipment. If you've never organized a structured walking program before you'll be amazed at how fast seniors generate power and you'll see first-hand how this power generates pride. The culmination? A "walking marathon" for your senior clients and groups!

3:00 pm EST

Presented by Dr. Dan Ritchie

The world is getting older at an alarming rate! Currently, there are over 100 million people in the USA over 55; in fact 1 out of 3 people in the USA are over 55. In Canada in the next 5 years, people over 50 will be the dominant population! In the UK, there are a record number of people turning 100 soon — the Queen will have to stop sending her congratulatory telegrams as over 1,000 a month will be overwhelming. The personal training industry for far too long has ignored the over 65 population and it can no longer continue to do so. In this session, we will explore the Hierarchy of Physical Functional and the Functional Aging Training Model and how you can begin to use these in your community and business today.

5:15 pm EST

Presented by Dr. Evan Osar & Robert Linkul

Arthritis of the knee is VERY common in older adults. During this session, Evan and Robert will review arthritic limitations and issues of the knee; corrective exercises to assist in improving arthritic symptoms; and resistance training exercises specifically targeted to the knee to help prevent further pain, discomfort and improve strength, stability and more!

6:30 pm EST

Presented by Farel Hruska

In this session, learn about some of the specific concerns you may encounter when training a pregnant client, as well as exercise recommendations that will best support your client’s needs.
